Review: Libriomancer by Jim C. Hines

Description from

Isaac Vainio is a Libriomancer, a member of the secret organization founded five centuries ago by Johannes Gutenberg.  Libriomancers are gifted with the ability to magically reach into books and draw forth objects. When Isaac is attacked by vampires that leaked from the pages of books into our world, he barely manages to escape. To his horror he discovers that vampires have been attacking other magic-users as well, and Gutenberg has been kidnapped.

With the help of a motorcycle-riding dryad who packs a pair of oak cudgels, Isaac finds himself hunting the unknown dark power that has been manipulating humans and vampires alike. And his search will uncover dangerous secrets about Libriomancy, Gutenberg, and the history of magic. . . .

The Enchanted Alley’s Review *some slight spoilers*

It’s fairly hard these days to find series that is so good that I can’t put it down. But, Hines’ Magic Ex Libris series falls into that category. From the intricate world-building, to the complex characters (you’ve gotta love Smudge), to the pacing of the story, it’s all wonderful.

I can’t wait to pick up the next one and find out more about the effects of Isaac using his libriomancy, how he’s going to deal with **SPOILER ALERT** the new relationship that emerged as a result of the first book, and what really happened with Ponce de Leon! I’m really hoping for something with pirates.

Libriomancer is a lively and entertaining book that any bookworm would drool over. (TWEET THAT!)

Don’t hesitate to check it out. I wish I’d read it sooner !
